Vote “No” on Senate Bill 2412

New Jersey Realtors have issued a call to action to contact your local state representatives to vote “no” on Senate Bill 2412. This proposed legislation would require landlords to refund lease payments and realtors to refund commissions on short term rentals if a tenant cancels a booking while in a state of emergency or public health emergency. This turns centuries of contract law upside down. The legislature voted a second reading in the New Jersey Senate on June 29, 2020. A similar bill (A4146) has been introduced and referred to the Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee. I will keep you updated.
